The New York Greek Film Expo will be hosted by Thanos Tokakis, one of Greece’s most prolific character actors, and the winner of the Hellenic Film Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (Eftyhia). Two of his 2023 films will be presented at this year’s Expo.

Promoted to a higher rank, a professor invites his father to travel with him from Athens to Thessaloniki to attend the university’s promotion ceremony. The trip provides an opportunity for father and son to sharpen their connection by reliving past experiences and memories. A plot twist toward the end of the film deepens the drama and points to the value of cathartic healing.

Low profile and adverse to self-promotion, Spanos felt that his music speaks for him. Many of his memorable songs are performed here by a veritable who’s who in Greek popular music.
